How to switch GLP-1 providers without a gap
Updated October 17, 2026
Switching providers is common, often because of price or service. A little preparation helps you avoid a gap in treatment.
What to have ready
- Your current medication. Semaglutide or tirzepatide, and whether it’s compounded or brand name.
- Your current dose, in milligrams.
- The date of your last injection.
- A photo of your current prescription label, if you have one.
- Your health history and current medications, including anything new since you started.
Timing your switch
Start your new visit a week or two before you run out. That gives your new provider time to review your visit and the pharmacy time to ship.
If you’ve missed more than a couple of weeks, tell your provider. They may restart you at a lower dose to limit side effects.
Doses can be measured differently
Compounded products can come in different concentrations, so the same dose may be a different volume in your syringe. Follow the instructions that come with your new prescription, not your old ones.
Switching to Sliver
Tell us your current medication, dose and last injection date in your online visit. Your provider decides how to continue. Patients switching from another provider start at the regular monthly price, which stays the same at every dose.
